A Little Halloween Spirit

Saturday night seemed like the perfect time to get into the Halloween Spirit!
Earlier in the day, Joe and I took a trip to Fry’s and picked out 2 perfect pumpkins for carving.

After a wonderful family dinner at Firebirds (some of the best food we have eaten in a long time), we headed home to get our “carve” on!
Joe had spent a few hours in the afternoon creating and drawing his own carving template. He had decided that in honor of the St. Louis Cardinals winning the World Series he would dedicate his masterpiece to them. I was raised a Cardinals baseball fan my entire life and when Joe became my husband, he too began to cheer on the Red Birds!
One of the best moments that occurred on the field after the Cardinals World Series Victory was the look on closing pitcher Jason Motte’s face. Joe’s inspiration looked a little something like this….

I decided my pumpkin would take after our dog Cody. Being that I am not nearly as artsy as Joe, my carving template was found on the internet.

As we got to work, Joe realized his much larger pumpkin was going to take some “elbow grease” to scrape clean. My nice tall skinny pumpkin was all clean in no time!

We spent much of the evening enjoying each others company and creating our works of art!

In the end… both of our pumpkins turned out pretty good! I was impressed with Joe. I could not believe he had designed his pumpkin from scratch and it looked amazing.

I love quiet evenings at home with my husband. I cannot wait for all the upcoming adventures the holidays have to offer.

Update

So, last week was quite a crazy week.

Joe left for Asheville, North Carolina on October 13th and didn't return until October 22nd. I will be the first to admit that I did not handle his time away very well.....

While he was away I had parent-teacher conferences. The week of conferences is very stressful and I went home LATE each night wishing that he was home to relax with.

I am so lucky to have such great friends and family. I spent a lot of time at my mom's house.
I have the best mom in the world!!!
She made sure I wasn't missing Joe too much and had girl time. It was kinda nice to feel like a little kid again and have my Momma take care of me.

When I wasn't at my moms, Kelly came over to my house and stayed in the guest room. It was so kind of her to drop her life and come be my house guest! She is a great friend and I know I can always count on her.

Oh.. and I can't forget about Cody! She also did a great job keeping me company.

After many tears and sleepless nights Joe came home! I was so glad and relieved to have him back. You really realize how much you need someone when they are not around.

As this week began, I was elated to be back in a routine. My husband is home, my home feels warm, dinner is on the stove each night, and I am incredibly happy.

Life is good... :)

Long Beach Aquarium

Oh, how I LOVE Fall Break!

Being a teacher sure does have its perks! During the week of October 10th I was given a week off for Fall Break. Joe decided we would go over to California and stay with his parents (I have great in-laws) for a few days as a way to enjoy my time off.

Joe was leaving me for 10 days to go on a business trip... so I think this was his way of buttering me up for his time away... it worked!!!

During our time in California we had so much fun! I always enjoy my time with Momma and Papa S :)

Joe decided we would spend one day at the
Long Beach Aquarium
It was such a beautiful day out... perfect for some time by the water!

Joe and I made sure that we made time to go to the Otter and Sea Lion shows! They have to be two of my favorite sea animals.

He is so CUTE!! I love my husband....

I had just gotten a new camera before we left on this trip, so I made sure to take as many pictures as I could.

I think the BEST part of the day was our time spent with the turtle. It was funny to watch Joe follow this turtle around... he wanted to be sure he got the perfect shot.

Spending time with Joe is one of my favorite things to do. It is so much more exciting to experience something new when you are doing it with someone you love.

What a wonderful day at the aquarium. Can't wait to someday take our kiddos there :)

Entering the Blog World!

After following several blogs for the past year... I have decided to enter the blog world!

Joe and I have been together for 5 years and the moment he walked into my life everything changed for the better! We love to laugh, spend quiet nights at home, watch baseball, and enjoy our family.

January 2, 2010 was the best day of my life! Joe and I were married in San Pedro, California. All of our closest family and friends were there and we had an amazing day. The funny thing is, getting married really showed Joe and myself who in our life really has our back. People from Arizona went out of their way to come to California and really displayed their love for us. We had a blast and my wedding day was everything I had always dreamed about as a little girl! Being married to Joe is the easiest thing I have ever done. He is my best friend, playmate, and the greatest husband ever!

Life is full of so many wonderful and crazy moments! This is a way of sharing these moments through my eyes. Come take the journey with me.

We are the Suarez Family and this is our story....
